What is TET ?
Teacher Eligibility Test known as TET is an Indian entrance examination for teachers. The test is mandatory for getting teaching jobs in government schools from Class 1 to Class 8. Paper 1 is meant for teachers opting for Class 1 to Class 5 and Paper 2 for Class 6 to Class 8. It is conducted by both Central government and State governments in India. Most states conduct their own TET.[1] The test is conducted in order fulfill and achieve the goals of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act.
About TET in Tamil Nadu 2016
- The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) will conduct Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test (TN TET) 2016 also known as Tamil Nadu TET, as per the formalities laid down by the central regulating authorities. Tamil Nadu TET is for the candidates aspiring to become teachers in primary (class I -V) and upper primary (VI-VIII) schools in the state of Tamil Nadu.
- TN TET 2016 notification will be released by the Department of School Education, Tamil Nadu OR concerned examination board as directed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. TET is a compulsory examination for all the B.Ed. qualified candidates to be considered for teacher jobs in schools run by the government and private managements. Candidates may be facilitated to apply online for this examination. Here are the details of the TN TET notification, syllabus, question pattern, eligibility details.
- a. The Secondary Grade Teachers / Graduate Teachers appointed with the prescribed qualifications in Government, Government Aided and Un-aided Schools on or after 23rd August, 2010. But exemption will be granted to persons whose appointment process initiated prior to NCTE notification dated: 23.08.2010.
- b. Secondary Grade Teachers working in Unaided Institutions without the prescribed qualifications shall acquire such minimum qualifications within a period of 5 years and should pass the TET Paper I.
- c. Graduate Teachers working in Unaided Institutions without the prescribed qualifications shall acquire such minimum qualifications within a period of 5 years and should pass the TET Paper II.
- d. All Candidates with necessary qualifications and seeking for appointment as Teachers for Classes I to V and VI to VIII. e. Candidates who want to improve their previous TET Paper-I and TET Paper – II scores
TET 2016 Exam pattern, Syllabus and Scheme
TN TET Syllabus consists of two objective type question papers. Each paper will consist of 150 MCQs and each question carries 1 marks totaling for 150 marks. Following are the details of question papers :

- Paper I Syllabus: To become teachers for classes I-V in Tamil Nadu primary school.
- Paper II Syllabus: To become teachers for classes between VI and VIII in Tamil Nadu upper primary school.
- Paper I and II: For those candidates who interested in teaching from Class I to VIII. They can appear for both the papers and have to get qualifying marks to be considered for all the classes.
- More than 5 lakhs students of Tamil Nadu are waiting for the results, An TN TET candidate who scores 60% or more in Tamil Nadu TET exam 2016 the exam will be considered as TN TET pass.

Use Separate Applications for Paper I and Paper II. The Examination fee is Rs.500/- for general categories (Rs.250/- for reserved categories). The fee should be paid by the candidate in any Branch of the State Bank of India or Indian Overseas Bank or Canara Bank only using the Prescribed Challan attached with the Prospectus.

Teachers Recruitment Board
Tamilnadu teacher’s recruitment board is one of the famous boards in India for the teaching jobs.
